Afterlife Versus Nothing by TRAX Founder Lindy Baumann Religions have hundreds of versions of what happens when you die. Atheists believe there is no God and no afterlife. Agnostics don't know and profess not to care. What is the truth? The truth is that NO ONE knows for sure. That is why so many of us seek to explore this realm of paranormal activity. We don't know, and deep inside, we WANT to know. It's a fact...none of us are getting out alive. One day, every one of us will cross that mysterious divide. Will there be loved ones waiting on the other side, to guide us on our way through a new and marvelous world? Will there be angels to escort us to heavenly realms? Will our spirits drift around places and people we know and love, yearning to connect again with them? And what is the deciding factor on who remains to haunt areas, and who moves on? Is it only a serious tragedy, sudden death, unfinished business, that determines whether some of us will become that ghostly figure walking up the stairs? Or is there nothing at all waiting for us when we die? We take our last breath, and it's over? Few people hold to the belief of nothingness in death. While we may be deluding ourselves, staving off the natural fear of the complete loss of all we are to the vague mystery of death, for most of us, we would prefer the delusion as opposed to the rather depressing thought of just ceasing to exist. I count myself in that group! As time passes, and I am blessed with more opportunities to investigate and document the paranormal events that so many of us experience, I and others like me will continue to hold to the belief that we do, indeed, live on, in some form, on some other plane of existence that we cannot fully understand or quantify while we yet live here in this physical world. For us, it makes the trials and tribulations life is filled with much more bearable. It softens the harsh edges of grief over the loss of someone we hold dear with hope that we will once again be united with that loved one. And it helps to bring some sense of purpose to a life that sometimes seems filled with chaos and makes no sense. Afterlife versus nothingness...we will know for sure one day, but until then, we will continue to search for evidence, one way or another.
